I have a prof. camera but I wanted something small for concerts and events the camera was just getting to heavy, so I bought this package with the camera, memory, and case I was so happy when it got here I took it out right away took a picture or two it seemed fine but then again I wasnt really looking for problems so I said this is so perfect. Well I set it in the case on the shelf about 2-3 months go by and I go to get the camera down to take to a concert and sometimes I get an error message " Lens error " and then sometimes when I turn it on it seems fine untill you take a picture and try to look at it up close on the screen and its not focusing so i guess something might have happened during shipping I dont know, but its to late to return it so make sure yours gets used a lot when you first get it.
Have taken many wonderful photos, easy to use, stores a lot with the memory card. Great camera. Gave as gifts to my children. Easy to use download to computer. Great value.
I turned the ISO up to 400 and you could see everything but it was very blurry. I am very impressed with the quality of the images this camera takes but you have to be outside in the sun or able to use the flash or it's gonna be very blurry. The only way I could get it to take a good image was to sit it on a table and capture an image with the timer. I took it on vacation and took a lot of awesome pictures and I have taken a lot of good pictures at home of my animals and stuff but after a lot of playing with settings I realized that it has to have a good amount of light.I am very impressed with the video it captures. All of the videos we have taken with it have turned out clear and have pretty good audio.I took it to a concert that allowed cameras and I didn't want to flash everybody's eyes out so I played with all of the settings and could not come up with a good image. The night portrait setting takes pretty good pics at night but it uses a flash and if anything is moving it has bad motion blur. We took some video of the show and the turned out very good though.
The video feature is great too, easy to use. Great pictures for the price. Just point and shoot. Not all the bells and whistles w/some cameras but excellent value and just what an average picture-taker (and someone hard on her cameras). needs.
I bought this Nikon Coolpix S550 on Black Friday here for a really good price. And I still couldn't get it to take a decent in-focus picture that wasn't washed out with the small thermonuclear flash that it comes with. (My perspective: I am an amateur photographer with a Canon DSLR that I use for the important stuff. Oh boy, the stuff this thing can do. OK, really glad. Normally I check things out on Consumer Reports, but, hey, it's a Nikon, and it's got to be at least as good as my old A10, right.Well, I couldn't take a decent photo with it. Well, I know all the people I take pictures of, so I didn't see the need for that.
Maybe there are folks out there who know how to get these things to behave.Anyway, I lent it to my daughter for her class trip and it was stolen. I just needed a pocket camera for convenience, to replace my trusty 1.3 mp Canon A10 and its 4 AA batteries). Maybe it's me, for whatever reason we just didn't click, kind of like a really awkward first date. So I sat down and read the manual. Face recognition. First, I was mad, then when I got my check from the travel insurance, I was kind of glad. Now I'm going to scour Consumer Reports and buy another camera, and it'll most likely be another Canon.
